EXCOMM Meeting – Thursday, May 31, 6:00 – 8:00

There will be an EXCOMM meeting on Thursday, May 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Panera on Eau Gallie Causeway.

Our Goals for 2012

Thank you to everyone who attended our recent excom meeting! It was great to see all of our new volunteers. I hope that any new attendees who are interested in volunteering have hooked up with the appropriate person for their area of interest. If you are still evaluating your area of interest that is ok too!

The section’s goals for 2012 are the following:

1. Continue holding our regular technical meetings (Tech Society Chairs)

2. Expand our Career Network meetings by inviting new speakers (PACE Chair)

3. Add general interest meetings (PACE Chair)

4. Infuse Networking Opportunities throughout all events and add more guided networking activities when feasible (all meeting organizers and Section Chair)

5. Review and update the Section’s Web Presence including the website, Linked in, Twitter, and Facebook (Web Presence Committee Chair)

6. Provide better access to mentors/speakers for FIT IEEE Students (Educational Activities Chair)

Even if you are performing a supporting role when compared to this list of goals – your contribution is important and needed to make up a strong and successful organization! I’d really like to see us help each other and the rest of the membership at large to build a strong local engineering network.

IEEE Melbourne Section Chair

Career Survival Workshop Webcast

The following link will bring you to the recorded webcast from the October 23 IEEE-USA Career Survival workshop that was held in Cocoa Village.  The workshop was a great success – those who attended the full day session were unanimously positive in their assessments that the information was interesting, and most importantly, useful.  The webcast has been edited into 9 sections, so you can view the modules one at a time.

The Melbourne Section plans to hold a series of career management meetings as follow-ups to this seminar.  Be on the lookout for more information soon!
